The Board Store brand of the month is Sharp Eye, they have boards for fast, slabby waves, big face waves and for the summer grovel that has been with us for a few weeks now. With the fastest surfer in the world riding them and the 2016 rookie of the year also shredding on them we know they are not to be sneezed at.
When you first put them under the arm you feel a solid well weighted board in the PU construction. The HT2.5, Toledo's favourite, is the board we are seeing get a lot of traction in the south west. Sharp Eye's main man Marcio Zouvi tweaked his HT2 by giving it a tail channel and changing the tail to a tight swallow. This gives the board some more bite through turns and a bunch of speed down the line. If you need to know more give Lachie a call at the shop, he cant stop raving about it.
The summer board that we have been loving is the Modern 2 in epoxy which you generally ride a bit smaller in length holding the volume. With the foam pushed forward and a bunch of V out the back this board holds its speed through soft sections and releases like nothing else. This gets our staff tick of approval for the summer smaller waves.
We are also stocking the #77 which is a go to when the waves start stacking and you want some serious drive and hold. The power of the waves around Margaret River definitely warrant a board of this calibre in your quiver.
