We approached Dave Mannion and asked him to shape up 3 boards for 3 different size humans to be ridden in solid 6-8ft South West surf.
Introducing the LQS (Liquid Sword)
The LQS is designed with ultimate smoothness and control of ride in mind. The full nose to tail rolled vee with a double concave in the last 1/3 running through the fin area gives effortless turning ability, this also smoothes out any chop and creates acceleration thru turns. This is because the rail rocker is flatter than the rocker of the stringer and when it comes to bigger waves, it's all about the rail.
The LQS is glassed to last with a 6 oz cloth on the bottom and 6x4 oz on the deck. If thats not enough strength for you Manno has also used blanks with 6 ply 8mm stringers.
The rail itself is pulled down low on the deck so it can be buried with ease and hug the face in critical situations, while the apex of the rail is still boxy enough to create drive and forgiveness. The side fins have more splay (angle) than average for deeper penetration and hold when on rail, as surfing on rail is what the LQS is all about...
